Kvadrat solutions
Kvadrat Acoustics solution comprising Soft Cells Broadline panels in meeting rooms and workshops upholstered with a custom metallised textile and curtains in Ginger 2.

BIG's new headquarters is a 27-meter-tall, 7-storey structure, located on a narrow pier in Copenhagen’s Nordhavn neighbourhood. Everything at the building, which relies on 60% reusable energy, is designed by BIG’s Landscape, Engineering, Architecture, Planning and Product (LEAPP) teams.

A year after the HQ opened its doors, we sat down with the architects to discuss how the Kvadrat textiles and Acoustics solutions are shaping the lived experience at the building.

"The combination of large panel sizes with very fine tolerances and the delicate surface of the textile means that the ceilings in the meeting rooms have a very clean expression. And yet, at closer inspection, a tactile quality that changes as the sun moves across the sky. Kvadrat Acoustics' expertise in fabrics, production of panels and installation has been great throughout the process, and we are very pleased with the result." - BIG architect

The result is an immersive dining experience where traditional Indonesian elements meet Dutch design sensibilities. Beyond aesthetics, the café’s design is functional yet dynamic, with intimate seating arrangements—anchored by Kvadrat textiles—offering guests a welcoming blend of warmth and sophistication.

At the heart of the space, the Kvadrat Surprise rug, custom-coloured to harmonize with the interior palette, defines distinct zones within the café. These bespoke rugs not only complement the seating but also enhance the café’s ambience, drawing guests into a tactile journey through design.

One reason we chose Kvadrat as a supplier was to align the upholstery of bespoke and catalogue furniture. Furthermore, we were also able to get an ideal colour match with the rugs by using individually arranged swatches based on the couch fabrics.
